UPDATE FOR AVISYS PALM SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS VISTA
This update is to update an existing AviSys Palm Support facility. It WILL NOT install a new AviSys Palm Support feature.
Currently, Palm offers support for Windows Vista (32 bit) for only the following devices or later.
- Palm Centro; Treo 755p, 700p, 680, 650
- Palm TX, Z22; Tungsten E2
If you have an older Palm model, please check with Palm to determine when, or if, they intend to support your model in Windows Vista. Specifically, Palm devices are not yet supported for Windows Vista 64 bit.
Because of the unique changes in the Palm OS Desktop program for Windows Vista, you will need to do a complete refresh of your AviSys Palm support, following the instructions below exactly.
- If you currently have AviSys Palm Support installed, delete all checklists from both upper and lower lists in the AviSys Utilities | Palm Operations dialog.
- Delete all checklists from your Palm device.
- Using Windows Explorer or (My) Computer, delete the PALM folder under your AviSys folder . . . something like C:\AVI6\PALM
-
- Be certain you have Palm OS Desktop software Version 6.2.2 or later installed. (Start the Palm Desktop program, then do HELP | ABOUT. The desktop software version is shown at the bottom of the About dialog.) If you are not at 6.2.2 or later, go to www.palm.com | Support and Downloads | Palm Desktop to download an update.
-
- Using your original AviSys Palm Support CD, install Palm Support.
- Download and install this update to AviSys Palm Support.
- Using the Palm Support dialog, follow the complete installation instructions in the AviSys Palm Support User's Guide.
- Be sure to do Find Required Folders which launches GETPALM.EXE which will link AviSys to the Palm Desktop. (If you have the gold colored User's Guide, there is a discussion about GETPALM.EXE in the appendix on the last page.)
-
- Follow the instructions in the AviSys Palm Support User's Guide to create a checklist for the Palm.
- Using the AviSys Palm Support Operations dialog, upload the checklist to your Palm device.
- Under the Operating the Palm Device section of the instructions, be sure you have set up the JFile application preferences.
- Enter a few test records on the device, being sure you first set up the FIRST OUTING INFO.
- Do a HotSync.
- Using the AviSys Palm Support Operations dialog, download the checklist to AviSys.
-
If you have problems not resolved by reviewing these instructions, provide the details in an email to support [at] avisys [dot] net.
