Downloading:

Print this page for reference. Click the link for the checklist you want, on the next page (link to that page below). If you are using a Netscape browser, hold down the shift key while you click.

As your browser downloads the file, pay attention to, and write down, the complete path and file name you, or your browser, selected -- such as C:\EUDORA\ATTACH\YELSTONE.CLB

Leave the Internet and start Windows Explorer (or File Manager). Find the file you just downloaded and copy it to your AviSys data folder, such as C:\AVI4\JOHN

Preparing the Places Tables

Start AviSys. Select Places.

Consistent with the geography of the downloaded checklist, add a Place to your Places Tables. For example, if you downloaded "Hennipen County, MN" add "Hennipen" to your County table and link it to "Minnesota" in your States table.

If you downloaded "White Sands National Monument," you might want to add "White Sands NM" in the Cities table, link it to "Otero County" in the Counties table, which you linked to "New Mexico" in the states table. If you are not a New Mexico resident likely to bird Otero County frequently, you would dispense with "Otero County" and link "White Sands NM" directly to "New Mexico."

Preparing the Checklist

Select Checklists

At the Checklist menu:
Click Add. From the Places Tables, select the appropriate Place for the checklist.
With that Place now in your checklist menu and highlighted, click Mark. Because there is a .CLB file in your data set folder, you will be promted with "Would you like to mark the checklist with a checklist backup file?" Answer Yes.

At the File Open menu:
Select the .CLB file you just downloaded. The checklist will now be marked with that file.

At the Checklist menu:
Invoke the checklist by double-clicking it or clicking "Invoke."

Remember: you don't have to keep these checklists in your Checklist menu all the time. You can delete them from the menu any time you wish, and re-add them from their .CLB files when you need them.
