"AviSys is the best birding software I have ever used.
Thanks to AviSys, I can finally (and easily) keep track of exactly
where and when I have seen each of my 3444 species. Thanks to
its sophisticated features, I also can use AviSys for various
research projects.
Despite its extensive capabilities, AviSys is easy to learn,
and the excellent user's manual and support by the programmer
himself are unequaled for leading one through its more advanced
features. Being able to keep track of all the subspecies is also
very useful, and makes dealing with the inevitable future splits
relatively painless.
Regular updates, freely available online, make it possible
to keep the taxonomy up-to-date with little effort and the increasing
availability of bird, butterfly, and dragonfly checklists from
various parts of the world is an important bonus. I recently started
to make use of the Palm support and being able to record species
in the field and then enter my data at home with the touch of
a button is a great timesaver.
All in all, AviSys is a phenomenal program which does everything
birdwatching software should do (and more) effectively and efficiently.
I really cannot see how one can improve on this gem, but I am
sure Jerry Blinn will surprise me by doing so for years to come."
