Exporting a Checklist to Quattro Pro
How to export an AviSys checklist to Quattro Pro so you can
print a checklist with multiple checkoff columns.
This process was developed with Quattro Pro 8 from the WordPerfect
8 Suite. It will probably be close to the process required for
prior versions of Quattro Pro.
- In AviSys, invoke the state, nation (or whichever) checklist
you want.
- Click Reports, select Checklist,
select the invoked checklist.
- At the Print Options dialog, select Latin
Names if you want them (probably not).
- Click the Text File button. (If you don't
have a Text File button, drop down the "Destination"
list and select (ASCII) Text File)
- At the resulting dialog, check "No checkboxes"
and uncheck "Show sighted markers"
if you don't want them to appear.
- At the Save dialog, choose a location and name
the file with a ".TXT" extension. Remember the
name and location.
- Start Quattro Pro -- you are placed on an empty sheet.
- Click Insert, and select File.
- At the Insert File dialog, click the folder
icon on the File Name edit.
- At the resulting dialog, drop down the File type
list and select ASCII Text. Drop down the Look
in list and browse to the file you saved in AviSys and
double-click it.
- The complete path to your file is now in the Insert
File dialog. OK it.
- At the QuickColumns Expert dialog, click the
Parse button.
- Your checklist is now loaded in the first column (A) of the
spreadsheet.
- You may want to clear row 2 column 1 of the AviSys header
stuff. Add whatever headers you want in as many additional columns
as you wish at row 1.
I leave you to do such things as File / Page Setup /
Options and select Gridlines, so the grids
show up on printout. You'll need to work with the wide variety
of print options in Quattro to get it to print as you wish on
your printer.
