Records are listed ten per screen, two lines per record. You can scroll and page through the listing with blinding speed due to AviSys' inherent speed and responsiveness. The current selected record number plus the number of records selected for the current listing and the count for the entire data set are displayed near the bottom, along with a display of the Listing Criteria used for the current listing, in this case a date range and place.
Each record displays the species, place recorded, state, nation and date. The comment and the Latin name are displayed on the second line.
With the Edit button, you can change any of the elements of the selected record.
There are provisions to rapidly perform mass edits, including complex additions and deletions of Key Words and Attributes to multiple records. Another AviSys Exclusive!
The Delete button lets you delete a record from the sighting file.
The Note button lets you view an attached Field Note, or add a Field Note of up to 7,442 characters to the record.
The "A" button lets you rotate through four font and style options to select the combination that works best on your screen. That setting sticks through successive sessions, unless you change it.
The QTY button gives you the option to have quantities show in the records -- reducing clutter until you need the numbers.
With the Print button, you can print the current listing. You have the options to print only the first lines and to print the Field Notes in-line with the listing. And when you print, of course, you can send the output to Adobe Acrobat (.PDF), Microsoft Word (.RTF), or to your web site (.HTML).
With the Export button, you can export the listed records in a format that can be "poured" into other programs, such as Access, Excel, dBASE, 123, Paradox, Quattro Pro, etc. The export is intelligent, expanding Place output to include all levels - Site, City, County, State, Nation, Continent - for each record, optional date formats, optional resolved sighting Attributes, and a taxonomic sequence number so the records can be sorted by species in the receiving software. Another AviSys Exclusive!
You also have the option to export the records to other copies of AviSys or to another data set in the current copy with Sighting REcord Streaming. Another AviSys Exclusive!
(Note the comments: if the user had entered a Key Word of Research Station in the Listing Criteria, only those records would have been listed. That's how you can use an unlimited number of locations, in addition to the 2350 formal Places, in AviSys reports and listings.)
